VENUE

WHAT IS DARE TO CLUB?

  • Dare To is an inimitable venue which hosts variety events from hard dance nights and drag-shows to BDSM parties, but is purpose built for SOS (Sex on Sex), otherwise known as 'adult' events.

  • It also maintains a Private Members Licence, which enables it to run multiple Sex on Sex events without the frequency or attendance restrictions that other venues operate under.

  • Dare To is rigorously audited and is overseen by Bristol CC to ensure all licencing is correct and all standards are not just maintained, but improved upon.

  • It is the ONLY venue in Bristol which has CC licencing for these types of events and at this frequency.

  • The venue is a member of NightWatch, which is a board for industry leads in the NTE for Bristol.

  • Nightwatch links together the Night Industries, Police, the City Council’s many divisions which effect, service or regulate the Night Time Economy, Business Improvement Districts, Non for Profits and others which operate in this economy.

HOW EVENTS RUN AT D2:

  • Events that are run at Dare To are run by individual events teams per event.

  • The venue does not 'run' these events, the events managers for the event leases the venue space through a hire agreement which comprises of a number of different elements.

  • Each team is comprised of a number of different roles, but this means that each event has...

    • Individual rule-sets (tailored to the events and audited by the venue to ensure safety)

    • Individual safety/security staff (beyond general SIA licenced doorstaff for the venue)

    • Individual themes or categories for their event (BDSM, orgies, private parties, members only, T4T, etc)

    • Marketing and promoters

    • Events management teams

    • Entertainment staff, such as DJs and photographers

This essentially means that each event run at D2 has a different setup for staffing and safety, with their own rulesets, dress-codes and management guidelines but with venue oversight and assistance. There will always be variations of how each event is managed and staffed as the venue is an event space and don't create and manage the nights themselves.

The venue itself assists in dealing with high risk situations or incidents as is required by licencing, but ultimately, risk and safety management (on the rare occasions they occur) is the responsibility of the events managements team for that particular event.

HOW FIENDISH & DARE TO OPERATE:

  • FIENDISH have the distinct pleasure of having a specialised, professionally accomplished and ethically transparent events management team with over 70 years experience in events management, fetish/BDSM event coordination and rigorous academic qualifications that include (but are not limited to) safeguarding, EDI&A, risk management and sexual health & safety.

  • The FIENDISH team comprises of the following roles and teams:

    • Events Managers & Promoters

    • Event Safety Manager

    • Event Safety Team

    • EDI&A Officer

    • Data Protection Officer

    • Event Photographer

    • Community Manager

At FIENDISH, we create, curate and produce our own rule set and use qualified, experienced staff. Security incidents, though few and far between, are managed by the Event Safety Manager (or named Secondary responsible person for instances precluding ESM involvement) and we have carefully crafted and reviewed policies in place to manage such incidents which are publicly available in the interests of best practice and transparency.

This model, coupled with assistance from the venue where practical and/or necessary and involvement with the NightWatch board, Bristol CC and other professionals in the field, has worked wonders for the furthering of creating safer, inclusive spaces for all of our communities.
